WHO WE ARE!
Favor
Foundation is a non-profit humanitarian organization dedicated to bettering the
lives of impoverished children, their families and communities.
Favor
Foundation mission is to help children living in dire poverty. Through the
generosity of contributors we provide needy children with a variety of programs
and services to meet their basic needs, enhance their self-esteem and raise
their physical and educational levels in a meaningful, lasting way.
We are
committed to protecting the rights of the world's most vulnerable and
marginalised children. We work in
Our projects
give children the tools they need to shape their own futures. In order to do
this we listen to what the communities tell us, and design each project to meet
their specific needs. Ours is not a quick-fix approach to poverty, we make sure
our solutions take root in communities, delivering lasting improvements to
children’s lives.
We achieve our
goals primarily through child sponsorship, which unites children in need with
individual sponsors who wish to address the children's immediate and basic
needs. Sponsorship gives poor children the tools and opportunities necessary
for success by providing benefits and supporting programs for each child -
primarily in the areas of education and health.
Every sponsored
child is enrolled in a project where donations are pooled to bring much needed
support to the child, their family and the entire community. This allows us to
reach out to far more children than those who are sponsored at any one time. It
costs less than 1€ a day become a child sponsor and make a real and lasting
difference to a child’s life.
Depending on
the needs of the community, project activities vary. They may include improving
children’s access to basic healthcare or education, providing credit and
training to help parents establish small businesses to lift themselves out of
poverty or working to ensure children have the opportunity to grow up in a
family-style environment.

ABOUT SPONSORSHIP
FAVOR
Child Sponsorship Program allows you to become a friend.
Many children in poverty
feel unloved and worthless. Your letters, photos and prayers will mean more
than you can possibly imagine.
Sponsoring a child will profoundly
change the future for your child -- and will change your own life in the
process.
Sponsorship is
one of the foundations upon which FAVOR builds its community education and
health programs and improves individual children's lives. Sponsorship is a very
personal way to improve a needy child's life. It gives you a chance to share a
unique relationship with one special child.
Sponsorship
makes it possible to match caring individual donors with children in need to
provide programs that truly result in lasting change. Through regular
contributions, sponsors help provide impoverished children with basic
necessities, such as medical and dental care, educational assistance, durable
clothing and shoes, improved living conditions and much more.
Incorporating only the best
practices, and using the latest monitoring and evaluation techniques,
sponsor-supported programs are based on meeting children's needs at key stages
in their physical and intellectual development, from early childhood to
adolescence.
We create community-based
solutions that provide vital health, education and social support services. By
involving communities in the work we do, our goal is to create changes that
will last, and not just help one generation of children and their families, but
future generations as well.
With education as the
principal goal of our sponsorship programs, we focus on the core developmental
stages and needs of children’s lives.
As a sponsor,
you'll be making a real difference in a needy child's life...and helping make
the world a better place.
WHAT IS SPONSORSHIP?
We know you care about helping children in need. And
through FAVOR, you can! Sponsorship is a
great way to experience the joys of helping a needy child, and make a lasting
difference in his or her life.
Although you're under no obligation, we hope you'll
consider sponsorship an ongoing commitment and continue to provide long-term
support for your child. It’s the best way to make the sponsorship program
affordable and efficient. More importantly, it can make a lasting difference
and help ease the pain of poverty.
WHY BECOME A SPONSOR?
It gives you a chance to share a unique relationship
with a child. As a sponsor, through regular contributions, you'll help provide
important benefits to a special child living in poverty. Our goal is to help
children become self-reliant, productive citizens of their communities.
ONE-TO-ONE RELATIONSHIP
While we do help hundreds of thousands of children and
their families, our programs are set up to work one on one. This way you know
your child will have only one sponsor – you! Your name will be shared with your
child, which contributes to creating a lasting bond between you and your
sponsored child.
WHERE YOUR MONEY GOES
Contributions are used on programs that focus on
individual needs. This way it's possible to provide essential benefits to
individual boys and girls.
Each month, sponsorship funds are combined to support our activities to
help sponsored children.
WRITE A CHILD
Exchanging letters with your sponsored child can help
build a wonderful relationship that will be rewarding to you both. You may even
include pictures of yourself so your child will really get to know you. Because
most sponsored children do not read English, a staff member in our field office
will translate your letter. Both your original letter and the translation are
given to your child.
VISIT A CHILD
Your child would be delighted to have you visit. And you can see for
yourself how much your sponsorship is helping him or her. When planned in
advance, visiting your sponsored child can be an amazing experience. In fact,
sponsors who have visited their children rave about how meaningful and
rewarding those visits are.
METHODOLOGY
Half of the
world's poorest people are children and there are more babies born into poverty
than ever before. Despite major advances in medicine, science and
technology, one out of four babies is born into extreme poverty and adverse
conditions.
FAVOR, understands
that poverty is a complex problem, and has experience in identifying and
addressing the root causes of poverty. Within the context of alleviating
child poverty, vulnerability and deprivation, FAVOR creates programs in a
variety of different areas that provide practical assistance to
impoverished communities and plant the seeds of self-sufficiency.
Poverty is the
main cause of childhood malnutrition in
Malnutrition
results from not having the right nutrients for an extended period of
time. Children under five years of age are most at risk because they are
growing rapidly. Malnourished children also have a harder time resisting
infections, so they are more likely to die from common childhood illnesses such
as diarrhoea and respiratory infections. Those who survive malnutrition may
face long-term effects, including being stunted or mentally retarded.
Breaking the
cycle of poverty is a key issue in all FAVOR development efforts.
FAVOR feels that asset building and community development are essential tools
in fighting poverty and helping families become financially secure. By
enabling families to better provide for their children and ultimately achieve
economic independence, FAVOR is not only responding to the immediate needs of
children but helping them secure a better future.
Grinding
poverty traps many children around the world, denying them the opportunity of a
safe and happy future. Sponsoring a child through Favor will help give children
access to education, healthcare, even the love of a family whatever is needed
most. Why not become a child sponsor today and help us break the cycle of
poverty?
